Role Summary/Purpose: | |
Essential Responsibilities: | This role is responsible for the development and execution of the research strategy for Women’s Health Ultrasound business by understanding the business needs, marketing strategy and associated unmet clinical needs, through interaction with external research collaborators and partnering with the leaders of the Women’s Health business. This role requires excellent technical and clinical knowledge, project management expertise, clinical research and clinical trial management experience and superior leadership and business planning skills. Duties include (but are not limited to): - Partner with the leaders of the Women’s Health business (Chief Engineer, Business GM, Program Managers, Marketing & Engineering leaders), Regulatory Affairs, Legal/Compliance, the Clinical Research Organization, academic institutions, and GE Global Research to direct and manage research for the Women’s Health business, helping GE and academic research collaborators meet mutual objectives.
- Drive and manage research in concert with external investigators and GEHC Global Research Organization in areas strategically important to the business.
- Analyze & understand scientific developments related to the Women’s Health product line through participation in MABs, scientific conferences, scientific/medical training sessions, and strategic partner meetings.
- Create product strategic research needs linking with business planning sessions, & utilizing feedback from product development teams.
- Work with Technology, Marketing, Medical Affairs, & Regulatory Affairs to determine product regulatory claims strategy & the associated research required to execute it.
- Participate in NPI project team activity to facilitate product releases through external evaluation of products and clinical & non-clinical evidence generation.
- Work with internal & external partners to evaluate Investigator Sponsored Research proposals relating to Women’s Health products.
- Directly manage technology research, and facilitate research execution through handoff of clinical research projects to GCRO while maintaining oversight for research results.
- Complete study documentation & ensure successful handoff of execution of clinical studies to the research operations teams.
- Assess research deliverables obtained and ensure transfer of results to end users in the Women’s Health business & regional stakeholders.
- Develop and evaluate technical and clinical feasibility studies of advanced applications.
- Provide scientific and clinical support to researchers and GE colleagues as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements: | - BS in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or appropriate Engineering/Science discipline or related area
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must be responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive resolution
- Experience with research related procedures, work instructions, workflows, and associated processes
- Experience working with IRBs / Ethics Committees and regulatory agencies
- Team player able to work closely with a global team and open to sharing information and best practices with the team
- Experience in Medical Device industry with firm understanding of working in a regulated environment
- Clinical, scientific, and technical competence related to the research at GE
- Ability to manage research budgets, resources and timelines
- Experience in working directly with academic researchers
- Ability and willingness to travel
According to Austrian law job postings need to include the minimum salary for a position. For this position the minimum salary based on the collective agreement is € 3099,02 gross monthly. Please note that this is the very minimum salary and will most likely be higher. The effective salary is based on the candidate’s Qualification and Experience and will be negotiated accordingly. |
